the games list
Hello. This is a list of the games for League and King of the Ring. They will be marked which is which. It should be noted, that on the League page, html doesn't tend to work. So, this is best viewed in the forum itself. You can get to this page on the forums very easily by clicking the forum button at the bottom.
It should be noted that these are not all the games that we play. These are just the games that we regularly play together, at set times each week. We play lots more games at LANs. I'll put together a LAN list sometime...
League is a 1-hour team game, which is on Tuesday nights at 9 PM. We vote on a game and play it for three weeks.
For Oct 30, Nov 6 and 13, it is Quake 3.
King of the Ring is a 20-minute deathmatch, which is on Thursday nights at 8:30 PM, right before our standard meetings. We vote on the game each week, at the meeting prior.
For Nov 1, it is Baboviolent 2.
tutorial for the rest of us.
Good for League?, King of the Ring
Counter-Strike: Source (CS:S). Pretty much an amazing game. Fairly realistic. A slow FPS, Terrorists vs. Counter-Terrorists. Team-based, goal oriented combat. Usually either rescue the hostages or plant a bomb. We've got a few people who are devoted to strange maps (breakfloor, surf maps...).
Good for League
tips section on it. Also, it's free.

download it.
Good for League
tips and tricks over in the Gaming Tips forum. It's free. But you can pay and get some more content (color of your jump-jets, mp3 player in-game, etc.). It's also on the distro cd, and that's what we've been playing...
Good for King of the Ring
Soldier of Fortune 2. It's another FPS, this time it's got a funky little story, and a random mission generator. Pretty fast-paced. You can get it for cheap somewhere around here. Talk to us.
Good for League, King of the Ring
Gaming Tips section. We've got a demo of it on the distro cd.
Good for League, King of the Ring
Unreal Tournament 1999 (UT 99). This game is very similar to the above, UT2k4, but five years older. It also happens to be the original UT.
Good for King of the Ring
Warcraft 3???
Good for League?
New games will be added as they become popular...

Leeeg
Yo. So, funny thing I realized while writing 'Leeeg'. Flieg vs leage. close. just add an 'f' to league, kinda. yeah. I'm not drunk. that was only an attempt last night. I just haven't eaten enough today. Anyway, I need to write this down before I forget it and it's about league, so I thought I'd do it here, and you can comment on it as you like.
THE FIRST IDEA: So, lot's of people have Wiis. and there will be people outside the CGA who have them. We should start a Wii bowling league on campus. I'm not sure how that all works, but once I get a Wii, I'll figure it out. or maybe I'll just spend an hour looking over the internet and find someone else I can copy on it. But yeah, we could totally have a tournament, probably with prizes and everything, cuz it sure ain't hard to play, and it sure is fun. Is it possible to play over the internet with friends and have multiple people on one Wii? like, I have two-three people playing on my Wii and someone else has 2-3 on theirs, and maybe someone else has a couple more, etc, and that way we all play together ish. and man that sounds dirty. oh well.
Second Idea: Split the group in two, maybe have people even choose which side they want to be on, like, according to pop vs soda vs coke or something. anyway, split the group. then, whenever there's a King of the Ring, or some such deathmatch, you keep track of the kills for each player. Maybe say that in any game where there are at least 3 from each group (if we split the CGA in half) that is played, you keep track of kills/who wins, by turning in endgame screenshots to myself or Dan. Anyway, we keep track of peoples' scores and teams' wins and get some kind of total from that. then we spend a large part of the CGA funds to get a prize for teh winars. yeah. totally. I'm not sure about that prize thing, but the rest might work, provided I'm actually understandable and what I said makes sense. 4ao.

oh geez, league
So we are having league again. This means will play games with each other.
DO ALL OF NEXT SEMESTERS HOMEWORK, GETTING SICK, FLAVA FLAV VIDEO WATCHING, AND PORCUPINE RAISING NOW.
Our league chairs have a great burden to undertake, but all of us can make it easier by doing some simple planning ahead. League games and times will be announced well beforehand, so there really is no excuse not to come and play games with us.
THAT ALSO MEANS PLAYING GAMES THAT AREN'T NECESSARILY YOUR CUP O' TEA.
The other most common reason (other than putting off everything until the last moment) that people don't join us for league is 'pet games'. Oh the CGA isn't playing Blockland for league  I'll just wait until they do play blockland and then i'll play with these cool fellows.
2v4 is not fun. 8v8 is epic. And the difference between the two resides in commitment from the members.
League can be some of the most fun to be had here in the CGA, but it relies on people not being completely lazy and uninvolved. We've seen league fail too many times, but we've also seen league be the most enjoyable times of this organization. The difference between the two is you.
Sorry if this came across as harsh, but it is a huge problem within the organization and the two fine gentlemen we elected to co-chair the task don't deserve any less than the full backing of the organization.
Summary: Plan now to be involved. 20 minutes a week isn't that much, promise.

League?
Hey new guys.
How often do you all want to play games and is this something you want to have as a team type thing with teams picked or unpicked beforehand? This will be something we will be discussing in the near future, but you all can start thinking about it now. Also, feel free to join our committee meetings at 9p on mondays in the 2N lounge of Ryle. There we talk about the kinds of things we would like the CGA to do and which of these things should be brought up at actual meetings.
